A friend was asked to deliver a large motor yacht from Italy to Greece. As usual before setting out, the crew checked that everything was in order. In the engine room they noticed an icon of Jesus on the cross and decided to take it down.
A few hours after departure, one engine stopped. They looked for a cause and found none. They carried on with the other engine, until it stopped too. They checked the fuel and electrical systems; everything appeared sound, but neither engine would start.
They put the icon back where it had been. They tried the starters again, and both engines came back to life.
The lesson they took from it: at sea, do not toy with spirits, demons or beliefs if you want to arrive safely.
